WHAT KIND OF PATIENTS ARE REFERRED TO YOU?
Families who are eager to learn how lifestyle factors modify health and disease. Generally, my patients have ongoing issues who are unsatisfied with the results of their current medical management plan or would like suggestions beyond pill prescriptions. Common conditions include anxiety, depression, inattention, constipation, asthma, eczema, period cramps or PMS and sleep disturbances. Usually, I find patients have more than one issue they want to address. I also provide preventative medicine consultations for healthy children and families who want to optimize their health maintenance.
WHAT SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY INITIAL CONSULTATION?
Your child's initial consultation is typically two hours. It includes a history intake, physical exam of your child and preliminary recommendations. I will ask questions about the current area of concern, your child's medical and developmental history, and lifestyle. The lifestyle intake includes nutrition/food preferences, physical activity, sleep, creativity outlets and emotional supports. It is good idea to be prepared with your child's medical record, medicine and supplement labels on hand, and observe a typical day in your child's life to be able to answer these questions. Choose a time of day that when you can be uninterrupted and focused. Parents will also have time to talk to me without their child present if desired.
ARE YOU MY PRIMARY DOCTOR?
No, but I will absolutely will be in touch with your child's doctor with your permission to review my recommendations. Your children's "well" and "sick" visits will be seen by their primary care provider. I serve as a consulting role.
DO YOU OFFER GROUP CONSULTATIONS OR WORKSHOPS?
Yes, by request I host private yoga classes and guided imagery for patient families and community members.
